Known in her lifetime as "the Grande Dame of Champagne", Madame Clicquot was a woman ahead of her time. When her husband died in 1805, she took over the reins at just 27 years of age, at a time when women had no place in the world of business. She was a demanding creator, tirelessly searching for only one quality, the finest. Her tenacity and instinct led her to free herself from her charted destiny.

A free and ambitious woman, she dared to say, "I wish my brand to rank first in New York like in Saint Petersburg". Today, her signature is recognized the world over as the seal of Veuve Clicquot.

This is the story of a Grande Dame, the story of a Grand Champagne.

Created in 1962 and launched in 1972 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the House, La Grande Dame is a tribute to the inspiring Madame Clicquot.

Veuve Clicquot presence in Grand Cru terroirs dates back to 1760.

Madame Clicquot knew she needed the best grapes to produce the best champagne. Thanks to her extraordinary intuition, she identified a few parcels which turned out to be some of the best in the region. She then acquired prestigious parcels like Verzenay, Verzy and Bouzy, now all classified as Grand Cru, and used in the blend of La Grande Dame.

La Grande Dame by Baccarat, a symbol of exceptional French know-how.

Madame Clicquot led her worldwide empire from the tip of her pen. She sent out by mail her instructions to her agents and replied to her customers, whom she called her friends.

Maison Veuve Clicquot is proud to unveil La Grande Dame by Baccarat, an inkwell inspired by this epistolary legacy. These two Houses, ambassadors of unique know-how, driven by a passion for creation and by a quest for excellence, have worked together to create a piece that symbolizes exceptional French craftsmanship.

Each of the fifteen pieces, signed and numbered by Baccarat, is unique and delivered with six bottles of La Grande Dame: 1989, 2004 and 2008, in both Brut & Brut Rosé. Vintages chosen by Maison Veuve Clicquot for their remarkable quality. When opened, the inkwell reveals a black and golden pewter champagne bucket, ready to welcome the collection of La Grande Dame wines. The base contains a set of four Baccarat crystal glasses and a drawer that turns into a leather-covered serving tray.
